Iowa Insurance Institute Supports Iowa Communities with a $10,000 Donation to the American Red Cross
The Iowa Insurance Institute (III) is donating $10,000 to the American Red Cross in Iowa after the state sees extensive damage caused by recent tornadoes and floods. This contribution supports the clean-up and rebuilding efforts during this critical time, uniting insurers with the insured.
The Iowa Insurance Institute remains dedicated to assisting Iowans in their recovery and resilience. With this donation, the III aims to alleviate some of the worries faced by those impacted by natural disasters, underscoring the Institute’s commitment to supporting both insurers and the insured during this unprecedented period.
“Many people are currently filing insurance claims and are concerned about covering repair costs. The Iowa Insurance Institute is committed to providing support during these times,” said Aaron Pearce, president of the Iowa Insurance Institute. “The Red Cross provides immediate relief after disasters, and that’s when people need it the most.”
Following the devastating May 21 tornado in Greenfield, Iowa, the Red Cross swiftly established a storm shelter, mobilized volunteers, and initiated clean-up operations. The Red Cross’ Greater Iowa Chapter has assisted millions of Iowans during their most challenging moments.
Severe flooding in northwest Iowa has compounded the crisis, causing extreme damage to property and forcing residents out of their homes. With an estimated 18 inches of rain in some areas of the state, flash floods have wreaked havoc, heightening the hardships caused by an ongoing record-setting heatwave. Homes have been destroyed, individuals injured, and entire communities are now grappling with the daunting task of rebuilding.
“Our members don’t live out-of-state, we live in those areas too,” Brittany Lumley, executive director of the Iowa Insurance Institute said. “We’re not donating as an organization, we’re neighbors doing what we can to help neighbors.”
The Iowa Insurance Institute is dedicated to helping Iowans get back on their feet – and stay on them. With this donation, the III hopes to ease the worries of Iowans who have been impacted by natural disasters.
